MUMBAI: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is currently on an official visit to India, interacted with several Bollywood superstars including Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
Trudeau and his family on Tuesday arrived at Mumbai and apart from visiting India’s top tourist destinations, met some of Bollywood’s superstars including Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Anupam Kher.
The Canadian PM wore a golden sherwani, his family wore traditional Indian clothes, his wife Sophie wore a cream-coloured embroidered sari with pearl earrings, while his daughter wore a lehenga choli and son, a churidar kurta respectively.
The Canadian PM tweeted, “Tonight, we celebrated stronger ties & new co-production opportunities between Bollywood and the Canadian Film Industry. And who better to help than @iamsrk himself… Great to meet you!”
Justin Trudeau and his family arrived in Gujarat and visited Sabarmati Ashram, the residence of non-violence icon Mahatma Gandhi. They started their visit with a trip to the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra.
He along with his wife and children were dressed in traditional Indian attire, Kurta and Punjabi suit. The ashram authorities gifted Gandhi’s books to Trudeau’s children.
The Canadian PM said, “Sabarmati Ashram a beautiful place of peace, humility, and truth, which is as needed today as it ever was.” The family also visited the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar.
Even other Bollywood celebrities tweeted such as Anupam Kher, Farhan, and R Madhavan.
Anupam Kher took to Twitter and wrote, “It was such a pleasure to meet the Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau & his family. What a charming & great conversationalist he is. Talked about people, culture and of course cinema.:)”
Farhan Akhtar tweeted, “Was an honour & a pleasure to meet the Hon. Prime Minister of Canada, @JustinTrudeau & his lovely wife, Sophie. Sir, your leadership in the discourse for ending gender discrimination serves as constant inspiration to us all.”
R Madhavan said: ” @JustinTrudeau such a pleasure and honour meeting you sir. Your relatability, grace and charm was most endearing and its easy to see why you are the Pride and toast of Canada.Have a lovely rest of the tour.”
