Kamalia woman, allegedly being burnt alive by in-laws, dies

Toba Tek Singh: A Kamalia woman who was allegedly tortured by her in-laws, succumbed to her injuries here on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

Sadia, 22, was allegedly set on fire by her husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law ten days ago in Kamalia’s Buhlool Wala Mohalla.

Her 70 per cent body had been burned and she was shifted to the burns ward of Allied Hospital.

After hanging between life and death for ten days, Sadia breathed her last on Wednesday evening.

Police has registered a case and arrested all the accused.

It is worthwhile to note that a woman named Nasreen, 35, was also burnt alive by her in-laws in Lahore six days ago.

The victim had also given a statement at the hospital. She said she was in the kitchen when somebody from behind sprinkled her with petrol and set her ablaze.

“I tried to came out of kitchen, but the door was locked from outside,” she had said in the statement before she passed away.

Police said the investigation was underway and further details would be out soon.
