Hot and dry weather forecast for Karachi

KARACHI: Hot and dry weather will grip Karachi on Saturday (today) and is likely to prevail in the coming few more days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). 

PMD director Abdul Rasheed said the people of Karachi will witness an increase in the temperatures from September 22 to Sept 26.  The mercury is likely to touch 38 °C today and tomorrow (Sunday), he added.

The met official said the hot weather will begin to neutralise in the metropolis from Sept 26.

Meanwhile, the Met Office said a shallow westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of the country tonight and may persist for next 2 days.

Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places in Gujranwala, Lahore divisions of central Punjab and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zhob in Balochistan and, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal divisions of Punjab apart of Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country on Friday. However, rain-thundershower occurred at Cherat. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 42°C at Shaheed Benazirabad in Sindh, followed by 41°C in Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan.
