KARACHI: The biker attacking women with paper cutter could be the same person who used to sexually harassed female students of Karachi University about two years ago, ARY News reported on Monday.
ARY News correspondent Rabeea Khan talked to a number of female students of Karachi University including those living in girls’ hostel.
The university students were of the view that the CCTV footage and the description provided by police (thin, black helmet, black pant, about 20 to 29 years old and height ranging from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inch) is similar to the one caught by Rangers in the varsity over sexual harassment.
“I was a Karachi University student at that time and in evening, a biker wearing a black helmet and black pants used to attack us from behind in an inappropriate way. He used to harass female students in the night, he attacked me and my friends at least three times,” said a former varsity student.
The former student added that when she was attacked, she tried to hold him or get his motorbike number but couldn’t manage to do so.
ARY News correspondent Rabeea Khan added that the last such incident in Karachi University was recorded when a girl was harassed at University Road.
It is pertinent to note here that police have already arrested six suspects in connection with knife attacks in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
On Saturday, police released pictures of the knife attacker who attacked several women with a sharp object in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
A prize money of Rs0.5 million was also announced for anyone who comes up with any information regarding the attacker.
The pictures taken from a CCTV footage show a biker wearing a helmet and attacking random women. Police say the suspect is about 20 to 29 years old and his height ranges from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inch.
At least six such attacks were carried out on girls since last week in the area.
In almost all such incidents, a biker attacked women with a sharp object leaving them severely injured.
