Kashmir issue should be resolved under UN resolutions: OIC secretary general

JEDDAH: Pakistan’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz on Monday called on Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Secretary General Dr Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen at his office in Jeddah.

Talking to the Pakistani envoy, Dr Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in light of United Nations resolutions. He lauded and backed the Pakistan’s stance on Palestine issue.

On the occasion, Pakistan’s ambassador to the Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz said that Pakistani nation was grateful to the OIC over highlighting the Kashmir issue before  the world. He  said that joint efforts made OIC a strong organization. The envoy further said that they take a joint position over issues, pertaining to Muslim Ummah.

Earlier, soon after Pakistan had informed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about Indian aggression at the Line of Control (LoC), OIC’s General Secretariat had issued a statement that “condemned the Indian incursion and aerial violation” and had asked both the countries to move towards de-escalation of the current situation.

The OIC on February 26 had described it as an action “against an OIC founding member state”.

It had also urged India and Pakistan “to exercise restraint and avoid any steps that would endanger peace and security in the region” and had called upon both countries “to act responsibly”.
