KARACHI: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karachi has appealed the government for immediate restoration of gas supply to CNG stations, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Addressing a presser, Junaid Makda, the President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) said, disruption of gas supply to the CNG stations is creating hindrances for the common people and the workers related to the this industry.

“Discontinuation of gas supply to CNG stations has resulted in closure of several stations in the city,” Mr Junaid said, and demanded immediate restoration of the supply.

Earlier today, the talks between the officials from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and the CNG association ended without any positive outcome.

The chairman of all Pakistan CNG forum had confirmed that the negotiations with the SSGC officials had failed.

Meanwhile, the SSGC spokesperson had assured that all household consumers will receive gas at all costs, however, after fixing the technical faults in the field, the CNG sector will be supplied gas by the gas company.

A shortage of 350 MMCFD is currently faced by the SSGC, the spokesperson further informed.

It is pertinent to mention here that Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan had on December 4 promised that people would not face gas load-shedding during this winter.

“Gas is being provided to the industry continuously and subsidy will be provided on bills from October 16 till June next year,” the minister said while talking to newsmen in Lahore.
