KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Saturday met the Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and expressed concerns over ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Karachi.
According to the details, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stressed upon the need to redress the grievances of Sindh province. He complained that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government did not fulfill its promises made with MQM and added that law enforcement agencies still conducting raids at the houses of MQM’s activists.
During the meeting, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail assured Khalid Maqbool that MQM’s reservations will be put before the Prime Minister Imran Khan, during his Karachi visit on Sunday.
Imran Ismail said that the government will cooperate with all the stakeholders for peace, economic progress and stability in Sindh. He assured Siddiqui that all the promises made with MQM will be fulfilled.
He termed cooperation between MQM-P and PTI inevitable for the development of the province.
Imran asks AGP to file review plea over SC order against encroachments
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan, on December 5, had directed the attorney general of Pakistan to file a review petition on the top court’s order to remove all encroachments across the metropolis.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail had met PM Khan on Tuesday in which he apprised him of reservations of people regarding the anti-encroachment drive.
The Supreme Court on October 27 had directed Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhtar, to remove all encroachments from the city’s amenity plots and pavements with the help of law enforcement agencies, and granted a 15-day deadline to city authorities for compliance of its orders.
