KARACHI:  PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will hold the office of prime minister till next general elections in 2018, ARY News reported.

Sources within the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) said Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, who is supposed to contest election on NA-120 seat which lies vacant after former PM Nawaz Sharif’s ouster following his disqualification, will not leave his Punjab office as it is stronghold of the party.

The sources added that Nawaz’s spouse Kulsoom Nawaz was being considered to be nominated to contest election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Dr Yasmin Rashid.

It seems that this new development is an afterthought as earlier on July 29 Railways Minister Saad Rafique through his social media account had announced that the party had consensus on electing Shahbaz Sharif as new Prime Minister.
