ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has called upon the government to disclose details regarding its upcoming meeting with the delegation of International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Islamabad, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media here, Abbasi said the Parliament must be taken into confidence regarding economic and security issues of the country.

Reacting to government’s statements terming Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to China as successful, the PML-N leader said China was an all-weather ally of Pakistan and none of the visits to Beijing could be unsuccessful.

He said the government could cast any allegation on the opposition, but it should be on the floor of the Parliament.

The former PM asked the government to keep public in the loop of its talks with the IMF.

A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived in Pakistan this morning to hold talks with the government on a possible bailout package.

On October 24, it was learnt that Pakistan was still planning to seek a bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) despite Saudi Arabia’s bailout package of worth $6 billion.

Saudi Arabia during recent visit of Premier Imran Khan agreed to give Pakistan $3 billion in foreign currency support for a year and a further loan worth up to $3 billion in deferred payments for oil imports to help stave off a current account crisis.

Finance Minister Asad Umar on October 11, called on International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde to formally request the global body for providing financial assistance to rescue the economy of Pakistan.
