PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan on Thursday underscored the need for collective efforts to eliminate corruption from the society.

Addressing a ceremony on the eve of anti-corruption week in Peshawar, Mehmood Khan said the provincial government has made legislations to eliminate the menace of corruption in public offices.

He said that the government has established compliant cells at all government departments for good governance and to ensure accountability. Mehmood Khan said that strict action will be taken against the corrupt elements in the government departments.

It is pertinent to mention here that KP Government Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, on September 28, had said that the provincial government would strengthen anti-corruption watchdog bodies to provide quick and inexpensive justice to the people.

Briefing the journalists after the cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the spokesman said that the provincial government would take strict decisions to ensure good governance and transparency in the province.
