LAHORE: At least two lawyers were killed in a firing incident at Lahore sessions court premises on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Police said that the incident of firing occurred after heated argument between lawyers over a property dispute.

As a result, Advocate Rana Nadeem suffered fatal firearm wounds and died on the spot, whereas another lawyer Owais Talib, who also suffered bullet injuries, died later at a hospital.

Police said they have taken a lawyer identified as Kashif Rajput into their custody over suspicion of resorting to firing.

A police officer said the deceased lawyers and their suspected killer were relatives. They were engaged in a quarrel outside a courtroom before the latter lost his tamper and opened fire at the victims, he added.

Further investigation into the firing incident has been underway, he said.

This is the second firing incident in less than a month as two persons, a police officer and an under-trial prisoner, were killed while another police officer was injured in a firing incident outside the Lahore sessions court on Jan 30.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and IG Punjab Arif Nawaz have took notice of the incident, calling for legal action against the culprit in accordance with the law.
