LEAs arrest dozens of suspects during raids across country

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI/LAHORE/PESHAWAR: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Wednesday detained two suspects during door-to-door search operation in the federal capital within the jurisdiction of Sihala Police Station.

According to police, weapons and ammunition have been recovered from the possession of the suspects who were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

However, details pertaining to the motive behind search operation were not shared.

Separately, the LEAs arrested an activist of a political party during a raid in Karachi’s Azizabad vicinity for facilitating the party’s affiliated militants.

The suspect has been identified as Waseem Belgium, affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L), who has been detained for his involvement in money laundering to London.

Meanwhile, authorities held seven street criminals from Orangi Town and Gulberg areas of the metropolis for being involved in various street crimes in two localities.

In another incident, residents of Karachi’s Gizri area handed over two dacoits to police who were captured during a botched attempt of robbery.

Moreover, around 20 suspects were arrested during overnight raids across Lahore. Police claimed to recover weapons, ammunition, and contraband from their possession.

Yet in another incident, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two suspected terrorists by foiling a major terror plot in the city.

According to the CTD, the terrorists were planting a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when they were captured. However, the identification of the suspects could not ascertained immediately.
