Man gets life term for four times for attacking police

ATTOCK: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Attock on Saturday sentenced a man accused of attack on police to life in prison for four times and imposed 0.42 million rupees fine, ARY News reported.  

Total imprisonment of the convict will span 54 years. He along his accomplices was involved in attack on police in 2012. They had attacked police to get their other accomplices released. In the firing, a police official and a driver were killed, while a sub-inspector got injured.

The court has ordered to confiscate moveable and immoveable properties of the convict.

The ATC has already sentenced his accomplices to death for five times.

On Friday, a city court of Karachi had given life sentence to a man who killed his neighbor over a verbal spat.

The accused Batras had murdered his neighbor over a quarrel in 2006, following which a case was registered against him in Muhammedabad police station.

The court also ordered to give Rs1 lac to heirs of the victim.

On March 1, the Supreme Court had upheld the life imprisonment to a would-be suicide bomber in Sakhi Sarwar shrine bomb attack in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The trial court had awarded 125 times life imprisonment to convict Umar Fidai, which was equal to overall 3432 years in jail.
