Minister vows action against govt teachers working as journalists

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has warned government teachers of strict action if they don’t quit their ‘moon lighting’ roles as a journalists or an NGO representative.

He was speaking to journalists at the Sindh Assembly building today.

Asking teachers to pay full attention to their teaching responsibilities, the minister said if the teachers continue with their dual roles they were encroaching space of a deserving person as well as cheating their own profession.

He added, ‘ Honourable High Court has forbidden the teachers to work as a journalist’.  He also requested the owners of the newspapers /electronic channels and NGOs to dismiss government teachers from their organisations as it would be great service to the people of Sindh and for the cause of education as well.

He also took notice of media reports that course books were being sold at junk shops in district Badin, and directed Deputy Commissioner Badin and Director Education Badin to look into the matter and bring the elements to task involved in this heinous crime.

He expressed his displeasure that the precious course books were being sold out at junk shops while they were meant to use for teaching purpose.
