PESHAWAR: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was reportedly stripped and paraded in public in Peshawar to settle a dispute between her brother and a neighbour, ARY News reported.

The incident took place three days ago on May 30 in the Kachi Mohalla neighbour with the remits of the Hastnagri police station. Shakila, the mother of the minor girl aged 14, approached the police station to file a complaint against Mazhar Hussain, who she alleged was responsible for the incident.

The incident arose from a petty dispute between children. The girl’s mother claimed that Mazhar Hussain assaulted and abused her daughter, and then stripped her completely and paraded her in the neighbourhood.

A FIR was lodged at the Hastnagri police station. Two men have been arrested but despite the passage of over three days, the prime suspect has not been apprehended.

Police said that the incident happened as a revenge to settle a dispute between children. SHO Wajid Khan said the two family members of the prime suspect has been arrested, while efforts are been made to arrest him.

“We had registered a report, and two family members of suspect Mazhar Hussain’s family have been arrested. But the prime suspect is absconding and efforts are being made to nab him,” he said.

He said the victim and suspect were related and there was a family dispute. The victim’s mother had come to file a report, during which the minor girl who had left her uncle’s house was stopped by Mazhar and stripped.

“Both parties are related. There was dispute and they had come to file a complaint. We registered the report and sent them to the hospital for medical treatment.”

“But during the same time, the girl who had left her uncle’s house to return home was stopped by Mazhar who then stripped her.”

The police officer refuted reports about the girl being paraded naked in the street and said that area residents came to her rescue after they witessed what was happening, covered her and sent her back to her house.

The victim’s family then came back to the police station filing another report of the incident.
