KARACHI: Counting a number of reasons for victory on surprisingly low number of seats of his party in Karachi, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar has said his party had lost the discipline it enjoyed in the past, ARY News reported.
The MQM won 17 National Assembly seats out of 20 in 2013 elections, which has plunged to four seats in the 2018 elections.
The MQM-P leader said boycott by Altaf Hussain, the emergence of the Pak Sarzameen Party (as another option for the Muhajir community) and issues within the party itself had been tremendous factors behind the loss.
Farooq Sattar also alleged that such a surprising result in the elections for the MQM-P was a consequence of “a sophisticated engineering”.
He said some forces wanted to show that the Karachi-based party had been winning elections through rigging, coercing and violence.
He also blamed his party for failing to deliver at the level of the local government.
