KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) invited on Monday Pakistan Peoples Party, and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) to attend its multi-party conference to be held on August 22 – the day when MQM will observe the Day of Deliverance (Youm-i-Nijaat).

PSP leader Anees Ahmed Advocate, while addressing a joint press conference at PSP’s headquarters, announced to accept the invitation. He said,”not only did his party accept the invitation but will cooperate with MQM in such initiative.”

He said he hoped that MQM would clear its position with regard to Altaf Hussain on Aug 22. He called for legal action against Altaf Hussain whom he referred to as traitor and the agent of Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He also called for action against those who were still trying to remain in contact with Altaf Hussain.

MQM leader Amir Khan said the multi-party conference was an initiative to bring all parties on the same page to put forward a strategy aimed to resolve civic and other problems and to empower municipal authorities. He said PTI, ANP and other parties have also been invited to attend the meeting to discuss issues plaguing Pakistan.

Afterwards, a delegation of MQM leaders led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui met PPP leader Nisar Khuhro at the latter’s chamber at Sindh Assembly secretariat and invited PPP to attend its conference.

Nisar Khuhro, who is also provincial education minister, said his party would decide whether to participate in the conference.

On Aug 22, Altaf had delivered an anti-state speech outside the Karachi Press Club, criticizing the national security agencies and inciting his workers to raise anti-Pakistan slogans and to attack media houses.
