‘Sindh will cut off gas supply to other provinces,’ Murad warns SSGCL

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday gave a one-week ultimatum to Federal government and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) to ensure provision of gas supply to the province by ending the gas load-shedding, ARY News reported.

Speaking on the floor in Sindh Assembly, Murad Ali Shah said that the province has the right on its gas production under Article 158 of the constitution but Sindh was being neglected where people including industries facing gas load-shedding resulting in loss of economic activities.

Giving an ultimatum, he said,“We will suspend gas supply connections to other provinces if gas load-shedding not ended. We will storm into the company’s office and take over the charge.”

Moreover, he said that his demand has support of all political parties of the province including Jamaat Islami (JI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal cabinet had approved Board of Investment (BOI)’s summary by lifting a countrywide moratorium on new gas connections yesterday.

Last month, Syed Murad Ali Shah had written a letter to the premier and lodged his complaint over the discriminatory policy of the federal government by stating that his province was being neglected and economically suffering due to ban on the new gas connections.
