Mustafa Kamal says MQM-P was ‘given’ four seats because of Amir Khan

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that he was not surprised after witnessing his party’s crushing defeat in July 25 elections, ARY News reported.

“A lot of people wanted us to do seat adjustment with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) but I refused so we we weren’t surprised with the result,” Kamal told ARY News in an exclusive interview.

Kamal said that he couldn’t do that for he has spread his own message and people had accepted his narrative so it was unacceptable for him to let his party men and candidates back off in favour of PTI or MQM.

The PSP chief claimed that he knew MQM-P was about to win four seats “because of Amir Khan”.

“We knew Amir Khan (of MQM-P) will get four seats, we knew it about 20 to 25 days before the polls,” claimed the PSP chief.

He, however, added that MQM-P will be wiped out in future elections.

“This was my first election and I will contest more polls, yes, this can be the last election for anyone else not me,” said Kamal without naming MQM-Pakistan.

About the ruling PTI which emerged as the biggest party in Karachi, he said that the party could only have won two seats from Karachi if elections were transparent.

Claiming that the elections were widely rigged, Kamal maintained that though the polling process was transparent some manipulation was done after the polling.

When asked if MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s boycott call affected the turnout in Karachi, he maintained that the last bullet in the MQM founder’s pistol was fired that day as people totally rejected his call to boycott the polls.

The PSP chief, whose party couldn’t manage to win a single seat from Karachi despite his claim of winning most seats from the city before the polls, concluded by saying that his party will contest future polls with renewed vigour.

He also rejected all rumours about his intentions to fly back to Dubai and said that he is not disappointed for his party’s power lies with people.

It is pertinent to mention here that a day before polls, Kamal, while talking to ARY News, said his party would at least win 17 seats from Karachi alone.
