Sindh Police seeks NAB inquiry of ghost cops in Thatta

KARACHI: Sindh Police taking notice of an ARY News report pertaining to ghost cops in Thatta Police, has penned a letter to National Accountability Bureau (NAB), seeking an inquiry into the matter.

“Salaries worth Rs.250 mln were released under the names of 112 ghost police personnel in Thatta” the letter sent to the NAB cited.

Well informed sources said that proofs  have been found, establishing involvement of police officers Azam Gopang, Abdul Sattar Solangi and Raja Shahid into the swindle.

It is worth mentioning here that the scam of ghost employees in Thatta police was unveiled by SSP, Faisal Abdullah, while talking to ARY News.

Earlier in September, the government of Sindh had announced to launch an inquiry against 18 top officers of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) over charges of involvement in corruption and illegal appointments.

A letter was written by Sindh government’s Services and General Admin Department to the Establishment Division to initiate the inquiry against 18 top officials of police.

The involvement of these 18 police officers in illegal appointments was declared by the Supreme Court’s inquiry committee, the letter cited.

Sain Rakhio Mirani, Khadim Hussain Rind, Javed Alam Odho, Sharjeel Kharal, Abdullah Sheikh, Javed Jiskani, Aitzaz Goraya, Pir Muhammad Shah, Pervaiz Chandio, Usman Ghani and Nasir Aftab are among the officers alleged of irregularities against whom inquiry has been ordered by the provincial government, according to the letter.
