NAB launches probe against Gorakh Hill Development Authority

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated investigation into alleged mega  corruption in Gorakh Hill Development Authority (GHDA), ARY News reported.

According to the details, the anti-graft watchdog, few days earlier, had conducted raid at the office of Gorakh Hill Development Authority and had seized record pertinent to corruption worth Rs7bn.

Sources told ARY News,” NAB team raid at the office of Gorakh Hill Development Authority, seized record and recovered bottles of wine from the office.”

The sources said that Rs7 billion were issued to the GHDA to boost tourism during 1995 to 2016 but the money was embezzled.

NAB sources said that despite spending the amount on tourism protects, a major part of the grant was embezzled and rest of the money was spent on construction of helipad and a park to please Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The sources further said that the NAB team inspected 95 projects of the GHDA and evaluated the expenditures on it.

NAB also decided to launch investigations against Grand Democratic Alliance’s Chairman Rafique Jamali, said the sources adding that Jamali was reportedly the front man of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The watchdog will also initiate inquiry against Nazir Jamali, Roshan Kanasaro and others.
