NAB procures audit reports of Orange Line, Metro Bus

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has acquired some critical documents revealing verified audit reservations in three mega projects involving senior bureaucrat Ahad Cheema.

Getting hands on the audit reports of Orange Line train, Metro Bus and Rawalpindi Bus is a pivotal development in NAB’s probe against Ahad Cheema.

According to sources, NAB officials wrote to the general manager of Mass Transit Authority in order to obtain the audit records of the projects as a proof against Ahad Cheema who is currently held in Ashiana Housing scheme scam.

After analyzing the audit reports, the corruption case against Ahad and other accused will ensue accordingly, as per the sources.

The project of Metro Bus Lahore was completed in Ahad’s tenure, whereas he made major contributions in Orange Line train project.

Cheema was arrested on February 21 after declaration of his fraudulent involvement and misuse of authority in Ashiyana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme, including corruption worth billions in a deal between Paragon Housing Society and Punjab Land Development Company.

The NAB inquiry further revealed that Bismillah Engineering Services Co (a major shareholder of JV titled Lahore CASA Developers) was a proxy firm working on behalf of Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd. Cheema allegedly received illegal gratification in the form of 32 kanals of land (valuing Rs 30.09 million approximately from the owners of Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd.
