LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday received a production order of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to ensure his presence in the upcoming session of the lower house of parliament which will start on Friday.

Sources say Shehbaz will be taken to Islamabad on the morning of Nov 23 via flight PK-652 from Lahore.

Earlier, NA Speaker Asad Qaiser issued the production order of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif to enable him to attend the session. This is the third time that his production order has been issued.

The speaker has summoned the session on the requisition of the opposition. The opposition submitted the requisition notice bearing signatures of 88 members to discuss a number of issues, including alleged victimization of political opponents of the government.

NAB has prepared a reference against the former chief minister Punjab in the Ashiana Housing scam case.

The team of the accountability watchdog briefed about the case to NAB Lahore chairman today (Wednesday).

Sources informed that the NAB team had found ex-CM Punjab and others misused their authority to benefit their blue-eyed officers in the housing project.

The NAB meeting was informed that Sharif reportedly forced Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC) chairman to follow his ‘unlawful’ instructions. “Fawad Hasan Fawad in connivance with Shehbaz Sharif got the contracts of some companies cancelled”, said the source.

The meeting was further told that Shehbaz Sharif ordered transfer of contract awarding powers from PLDC to Lahore Development Authority. Ahad Khan Cheema was the director general of LDA at that time.

On Oct 5, the NAB team had arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president, Shehbaz Sharif, in Rs 14 billion Ashiana housing society case.
