NAB recommends interior ministry to put Shehbaz’s name on ECL

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday has recommended the interior ministry to place Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif’s name on the exit control list (ECL), ARY News reported.

The NAB, in a letter to the interior ministry, cited that investigations against Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly (NA), were under process in a case pertaining to possessing assets beyond his known sources of income, hence his name should be placed on ECL.

NAB said that investigations also underway against Shehbaz Sharif’s sons, Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz in the assets beyond means case.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, on January, had filed a bail petition on the basis of his medical report in the Lahore High Court.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader had filed the plea through his counsels Azam Nazir Tarar and Amjad Pervez.

“Since I am under treatment for my health condition is not good, therefore the court should release me on bail,” he had pleaded to the high court.

Shehbaz Sharif said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had made the case against him on political grounds and in violation of the law.
