Nation celebrating Eid-ul-Azha with religious fervour

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI/LAHORE: The nation is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha today with religious fervor and spirit.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of Muslim Ummah and safety and security of the country.

Eid congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country.

Ulema and Khateeb highlighted significance of the day and philosophy of the sacrifice.

After offering Eid prayers, the faithful are slaughtering their sacrificial animals in remembrance of Sunnat-e Ibrahimi.

The meat of sacrificed animals are being distributed among relatives and the poor.

Federal and provincial governments have chalked out elaborate security arrangements across the country to avoid any untoward incident.

Civic authorities of different cities and towns have also made special arrangements for disposal of offal and other solid waste during three days of Eid.

In Islamabad, the main Eid congregation held at Faisal Mosque where Federal Ministers, politicians and parliamentarians, present in Islamabad, Muslim diplomats and notables joined thousands of faithful in prayers.

In Lahore, Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajawana offered Eid prayer at Governor House.

In Peshawar, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road.

Eid prayers were also offered at about two hundred other places in the city.

A comprehensive security plan has been chalked-out to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the provincial metropolis on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

In Muzaffarabad, the main Eid congregation was held at Markazi Eid-Gah.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan offered Namaz-e-Eid at his native town Chowgali Kot Mattey Khan in Rawalakot while Prime Minster Raja Farooq Haider Khan offered Eid prayer at Muzaffarabad.

Eid-ul-Azha is also being celebrated in Gilgit Baltistan with religious fervor and zeal.
