Navy Chief meets PM Imran, deliberates security matters

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday.

The Naval Chief discussed the security situation of the country and other matters pertaining to the Pakistan Navy with the prime minister.

During the meeting, PM Khan commended the efforts of Pakistan Navy in guarding the maritime boundaries of the country.

The chief of naval staff also congratulated PM Imran for assuming the top post of the government.

A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on PM Khan and felicitated him on assuming the post of chief executive of the country during their first meeting at Prime Minister House.

The security situation of the country was the focal point of their discussion. The two top officials vowed to make continuous efforts to ensure long-lasting peace and stability in the country.

The overall security situation of the region also came under discussion.

On August 18, newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan took the oath of office at a ceremony at the President House.

President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to Mr Khan a day after he was elected as 22nd prime minister of the country by the National Assembly to form the government at the Centre.
