New local government system to end status-quo: CM Punjab

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar on Saturday said that the new local bodies system presented by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will reflect public aspirations, ARY News reported.

Addressing a high-level meeting held to review details regarding new local government (LG) system in Lahore, the chief minister said that the new local government system would reflect public aspirations as local government representatives would be empowered in true meanings.

He maintained that the new LG system was being introduced to resolve public problems at their doorsteps.

“As per PM Imran Khan’s vision, a system of check and balance would be introduced in local government institutions and transparency would be ensured at all costs,” said the CM.

Sardar Usman Buzdar said that a system aimed at swiftly resolve public problems at the grass-root level.

The new LG system would do away with status quo and will become the the system of the people and for the people as it would empower them,” said the CM.

Senior minister, Abdul Aleem Khan and secretary local government gave the CM a briefing on the proposedsystem. Provincial ministers, senior officials and secretaries attended the meeting.
