Nine burnt to death in passenger van fire near Islamabad

ATTOCK: At least nine people were burnt to death and four others wounded when a passenger van caught fire after colliding with a truck in Hasan Abdal city of the Punjab province on Sunday morning, ARY News reported.

Police and rescue sources said the accident occurred near Abbottabad Chowk which resulted in the death of at least nine people while four others sustained burn injuries.

They said the collision between the two vehicle damaged roadside gas pipeline, igniting fire which engulfed the vehicles in seconds.

Rescue teams and fire tenders arrived immediately at the spot after learning about the accident and put out the fire.

The deceased and injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital where the injured are stated to be in critical condition, said the rescue officials.

There was not immediate information about the cause of the collision.
