No compromise over the accountability process, says PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Miniser Imran Khan on Monday said that his government will not compromise over the issue of accountability.

The prime minister expressed these views in a meeting with Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Accountability Shahzad Akbar was also present during the meeting.

Prime Minister Khan said, ” We have to speed up the process of accountability and to make it more effective.”

The meeting also discussed political situation in the context of the Accountability Court’s verdict in two corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

They also consulted over proposals to strengthen the system of accountability in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that an accountability court today sentenced former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seven years jail in Al-Azizia accountability reference.

The court announced the verdict in the two references Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment and awarded  the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader to seven years jail term and ordered him to pay $25million as fine.
