Oil and gas reserves discovered in Sindh

KARACHI: In a major development on Tuesday, Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) announced it had discovered gas and condensate oil in Tando Muhammad Khan district of Sindh, ARY News reported.

In its statement, the OGDCL said the joint venture of Nim Block comprising OGDCL as operator and Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) had discovered gas and condensate oil from its exploratory cum appraisal well, Mangrio-1, located in district Tando Muhammad Khan, Sindh.”

“The well was drilled down to the depth of 2676 meters and has tested 10.44 MMSCFD gas, 120 BPD condensate through choke size 32/64″ at Wellhead Flowing Pressure of 2085 Psi from Lower Gru B-Sand,” reads the statement.

The OGDCL has 95 per cent share in the block while GHPL has only 5 per cent share in it. The structure of well Mangrio-1 was delineated and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise.

The statement further said that the discovery of Mangrio-1 well was the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company.

“It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of the OGDCL and of the country,” read the statement.
