PAC visits Benazir Int. Airport, expresses concerns over delay
ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Syed Khursheed Shah has said that the delay in the project of construction of a new airport in the Federal Capital is causing billions of loss to the national treasury – ARY News reports.
According to details, the PAC visited the Benazir International Airport, Islamabad earlier today where the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials briefed the committee on the project.
CAA officials told that the project will be accomplished in 2014, while the airport will be operational by 2016. It was further elaborated that the National Highway Authority (NHA) has also accomplished the planning of construction of a road for reaching out to the new airport.
On this occasion, the Chairman PAC expressed his concerns over the delay of the project and said that postponement is causing billions of loss to the national treasury.
He also raised question at the handing over the charge of the project to a retired Air Marshal rather an engineer.
