COAS Bajwa approves promotion of 40 army officers

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday approved promotion of 40 Pakistan Army officers from brigadier rank to major general.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that General Qamar Javed Bajwa chaired a session of Promotion Board of Pakistan Army where many officers were promoted to high-level positions.

40 brigadiers including 11 officers of medical corps and 29 from different sectors were promoted to major general ranks after formal approval of the Army Chief, it said.

The officers include Major Generals Zafar Iqbal Marwat, Shakirullah Khattak, Muhammad Owais, Amir Naveed, Muhammad Ijaz Mirza, Tabassum Habib, Shuja Anwar, Dilawar Khan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Asif Mehmood Goraya and Kamal Azfar.

On April 2, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had chaired Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ).

The commanders expressed its resolve to support the government and all stakeholders in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that having achieved stability against terrorism, Pakistan was on a positive trajectory of becoming a state where prerogative of use of weapons rests with the state alone and socio-economic development was taking preeminence.

The meeting reviewed geo-strategic environment and ongoing situation along Eastern Border, the statement said and added that the forum expressed strong will, resolve and determination to defend the motherland against any misadventure or aggression.

The statement further said that the forum reiterated to continue its efforts for bringing enduring pace in the county while supporting all initiatives towards regional peace.
