Pakistan calls for resolving Palestine, Kashmir issues according to UN resolutions
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on Saturday said the opening of US Embassy in Al-Quds Al Sharif was in contravention of international law, especially the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, on the status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
“We, the Muslims, need to be united. At this unprecedented juncture our collective voice will be heard,” she said in her statement at the extraordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Palestine in Istanbul.
The foreign secretary said both the situation in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir were challenging the basic fabric of international civilized behavior of states.
She said in both cases blood had been spilled. In both cases the international community must come together to respond to the requirements of international legitimacy, she added.
Tehmina Janjua stressed the need to agitate on all international fora for the just cause of people, end occupation and bring to justice of those responsible.
Israeli military forces fired live rounds and tear gas on Palestinians on Monday leaving more than 60 dead and over 100 injured in a massacre of protesters on the day the United States opened its embassy in contested Jerusalem.
