Pakistan, EU to ink strategic engagement plan on June 25

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the European Union will sign a new strategic engagement plan for strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation in the fields of of trade, investment and energy on June 25 in Brussels, ARY News reported.

According to the details, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will arrive in Belgium on a two-day official visit to attend the signing ceremony.

FM Qureshi would lead the Pakistan’s team while EU Representative for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will lead her delegation.

During his visit, FM Qureshi would also address Pakistani community in Brussels.

Earlier on March 25, Pakistan and the European Union (EU) had agreed to strategic partnership in the fields of trade, investment and energy.

The understanding came at the strategic dialogue between the two sides at foreign office in the federal capital. Pakistani side was led by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi while the EU by its Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said Pakistan would continue to fulfill its responsibilities vis-a-vis peace in Afghanistan and the region.

The foreign minister had also apprised the EU delegation about gross human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
