Pakistan to open its first-ever transgender school

LAHORE: Pakistan has established its first ever transgender school to provide education and vocational training to Pakistan’s transgender community. The school is set to open its doors from April 15th in Lahore.

Offering full 12 years of academic education from primary to matriculation this institute is named “The Gender Guardian”. It will later expand to college-level education as well.

The school will also cater technical education classes such as fashion designing, grooming courses (beautician and hair styling), graphic designing, mobile and computer repair and the likes.

Pakistan first transgender school

The founder of the school Asif Shahzad said that the school has been built in collaboration with an NGO and they aim to open two more schools in Islamabad and Karachi.

A number of 40 candidates from the transgender community have already registered and will soon be learning under the soon to be operational school.

The school is set to officially announce its launch through an opening ceremony at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore’s Alhamra Hall and several big names of the entertainment industry are expected to attend.
