Pakistan Navy to conduct multinational maritime exercise in 2019

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy will conduct multinational maritime ‘AMAN Exercise 2019’ in the beginning of the next year.

To this effect, a final planning conference was held in Karachi on Tuesday. At least 41 representatives of participating countries attended the conference.

The Pakistan Navy spokesperson said the exercises would play an important role for formation of a joint strategy and consensus approach for global maritime security.

He said the basic purpose of the exercises included enhancement of professional expertise in capability of joint operations and regional peace and security. He said naval forces from across the world will be participating in the AMAN Exercises with Pakistan Navy’s declared resolve of ‘Unity for Peace’.

Pakistan Navy had been conducting multinational Naval exercise AMAN since 2007.

Pakistan Navy celebrated 47th Hangor Day on Sunday to commemorate the courage and valour of the force that sank Indian Navy Ship KHUKRI in 1971 war.

Vice Admiral (Retd) Abaid Ullah Khan said Submarine HANGOR remained a pride for Pakistan Navy in 1971 war and its gallant action was a spectacular tactical battle resulting in sinking of Indian Navy’s Frigate.

He said the sinking of KHUKRI crippled Indian Navy’s morale and its nefarious designs of subsequent attacks on Karachi.
