Pakistan-Turkey friendship transcends time and borders: Asad Qaiser
DOHA: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Sunday said that the eternal bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Turkey transcended the boundaries of time and geography as these were deeply etched into the hearts and minds of the people of the two countries.
Asad Qaiser made these remarks during a meeting with his Turkish Counterpart Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sentop. The speakers held meeting on the sideline of 140th General Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union in Doha.
Paying rich tribute to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qaiser said that he had taken bold stances over the plight of Muslims anywhere in the world.
On the occasion, Dr. Mustafa Sentop said that Turkey would continue support for the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right of self-determination in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
He praised Pakistan for initiating the idea of “Five Nations Speakers’ Conference” and suggested to form a permanent secretariat of this important parliamentary forum.
Earlier, Turkey on February 27 had categorically announced to stand by Pakistan and its people in the pace of Indian aggression.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavusoglu had expressed these sentiments during his telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Sharing details of his talk, Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that the Turkish foreign minister had also declared to oppose if the Indian external affairs minister was given an opportunity to speak at the upcoming Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Abu Dhabi.
