LAHORE: Speaker of Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday asserted the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) is standing alongside Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
Refuting all impressions about differences with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Elahi told media that internal rifts within the party are beauty of the democracy and there are no disagreements between the PML-Q and PTI.
He said all our meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan revolve around the agenda of strengthening the position of CM Buzdar.
Referring to PML-Q MNA Tariq Basheer Cheema’s speech in the assembly, Elahi clarified that the mention of Bhawalpur province by the minister was on point, and if one province is established then this practice will go on.
The speaker further dismissed all reports about contacts with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and stated that “there is no association” between the PML-Q and PML-N.
It is pertinent to mention that a legislation bill to carve out South Punjab province from Punjab was tabled in National Assembly on Tuesday. Supporting the bill, PML-Q leader and Minister of Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema also stressed the need for creating a Bahawalpur province as well.
