LAHORE: A board of medical experts has been constituted to evaluate former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s health and devise future course of his treatment, his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan said on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media here, he said it would be immature to say anything about whether the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader will treated within a period of six weeks or not.

The former premier’s London-based doctor was also taken on board, he said, adding that doctors are determining whether he can be treated in Pakistan or abroad.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif arrived at Sharif Medical City (SMC) Hospital for more medical tests today.

Earlier, on March 30, physicians prescribed monitoring his heartbeat by fixing a Holter at his chest the next week besides carrying out echo test. They also mulled over the possibility of implanting a pacemaker.

The decision about both the tests was taken as Nawaz Sharif’s ECG showed abnormalities, according to reports.

A team of medical experts also detected disturbed blood flow through left artery of his heart. Besides, the doctors also decided to test his eyesight in view of finding higher blood glucose levels.

The former premier after obtaining a six-week-long bail from the Supreme Court on medical grounds arrived at Jati Umra in early hours of Wednesday. He decided to undergo treatment at his own SMC Hospital after consultation with his family members and close aides.
