PM Abbasi meets UN chief; demands appointment of special representative for Kashmir
NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday met United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and demanded the appointment of a special envoy for Kashmir, ARY News reported.
The prime minister met with Guterres in New York before addressing the UN General Assembly.
He raised the Kashmir issue and handed over a dossier on human rights violations in India-occupied Kashmir. He informed him that India has closed the doors of dialogue with Pakistan.
He also apprised the UN chief about ceasefire violations by India including the four civilians killed in Indian firing along the Working Boundary.
Antonio Guterres acknowledged Pakistan’s counter-terrorism steps. UNSG said he has himself witnessed Pakistan’s counter- terrorism operations and he was a great admirer of it’s efforts.
He said that Pakistan is very dear to his heart and he has visited the country many times.
“I am a great admirer of Pakistan’s democratic consolidation,” the UN Secretary General said.
