PM Imran, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi discuss bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a day-long visit today (Sunday), ARY News reported.

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces, at the Presidential Palace.

Matters relating to the bilateral relations and important international and regional issues were discussed in the meeting. They also discussed ways and means to further enhance the bilateral relations.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, energy minister, petroleum minister, COAS, PM’s adviser for commerce were also present in the meeting.

 

Earlier, PM Khan was presented a Guard of Honor upon arrival at the Presidential Palace. National Anthems of both the countries were played.

Sources said the key agenda of the prime minister’s meetings will be to discuss an economic package with the UAE government.

It is PM Khan’s second visit to the UAE. He first visited the country as the prime minister on September 19.

Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who has been presently in the UAE, also held a meeting with his UAE counterpart, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayad Alnahiyan in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting on the sidelines of Sir Bani Yas Forum at the UAE’s foreign office, discussed to enhance bilateral cooperation and regional issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan will also pay a two-day state visit to Malaysia from November 20, Tuesday. He would be accompanied by a high level delegation.

This would be the first official visit of any foreign leader since Dr. Mahathir Mohamad assumed office in May this year.

The two leaders will have a one- on-one meeting, followed by delegation-level talks.
