PM leaves for Saudi Arabia to ‘attract foreign investment’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday departed for Saudi Arabia to attend an important conference featuring top business giants.

The conference theme is titled ‘Future Investment Initiative’ and it will begin in Riyadh on Tuesday. He is also scheduled on official visits of Malaysia and China.

This is PM Khan’s second visit to the Kingdom in near a month. He made his maiden visit to the Saudi Arabia as PM on Sep 18. He is visiting on the special invitation of Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.

The conference dubbed “Davos in the Desert” will bring leading businessmen, investors, corporate giants, representatives of hi-tech industry and major media outlets on one platform.

PM Imran Khan’s participation in first day of the conference is aimed at projecting Pakistan’s economic and investment potential as well as its vision for the next five years. The conference will provide an opportunity to interact with important business leaders who are interested in investing in Pakistan.

The prime minister will depart on Malaysia on October 28 where he is expected to meet his counterpart Mahathir Muhammad. PM Imran will start his official visit of China from November 3.

Imran Khan is also expected to call on King Salman and meet Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to discuss matters of mutual interest with them.

During his first visit to the Kingdom, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry accompanied  the premier.

During his two-day visit, Khan met King Salman and discussed many important bilateral, regional and international issues. Similarly, matters related to welfare of the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia and ways to enhance people to people contact also came up during the discussion.
