PM Imran Khan to visit Karachi on Sunday

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will arrive in Karachi on December 9 (Sunday) for a day-long visit during which he will review the law and order situation in the metropolis, said sources.

According to the details, Prime Minister will meet Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s members Sindh Assembly and other important personalities.

The sources said that the prime minister will be briefed on ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Karachi  and public reaction.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Imran Khan, on December 5, had directed the attorney general of Pakistan to file a review petition on the top court’s order to remove all encroachments across the metropolis.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail met PM Khan on Tuesday in which he apprised him of reservations of people regarding the anti-encroachment drive.

The Supreme Court on October 27 had directed Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhtar, to remove all encroachments from the city’s amenity plots and pavements with the help of law enforcement agencies, and granted a 15-day deadline to city authorities for compliance of its orders.
