PM Khan constitutes committees for CPEC, privatization and energy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday formed three cabinet committees to look after the process of privatization, energy sector and the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

As per the official notification, PM Khan has constituted a nine-member committee to overview the CPEC. The committee will be headed by the Minister of Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Law and Justice Farogh Naseem, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister of Petroleum Division Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid and PM’s adviser on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production and Investment will also be the members of the committee.

Moreover, seven-member committee for privatization will be headed by Finance Minister Asad Umar and will comprise of Minister of Law and Justice Farogh Naseem, adviser to PM on Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr Ishrat Hussain, Abdul Razzaq Dawood and Khusro Bakhtiar.

As per the notification, a six-member energy committee has been set up and Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan will be its head.

Finance Minister Asad Umar, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid, Abdul Razzaq Dawood who is the adviser to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production and Investment, PM’s Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar and the secretary cabinet division will also be the members of the committee.
