PM performs groundbreaking of Optical Fiber Cable Project

Nawaz Sharif addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony said that the government leading to the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

He said the advancement in technology and economic development are the cornerstones of progress in the modern age.

He said the CPEC is the plan of rebuilding and development of the country, which will attach the southern parts of Pakistan with northern areas, even the project will extend to Afghanistan, Iran and the Central Asia.

The prime minister said that the development projects will curb terrorism and provide jobs and modern facilities in the region.

Earlier, on his arrival, the prime minister was received by Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman.

The Prime Minister will also administer oath to the elected members of Gilgit Baltistan Council.

The Optical Fiber Cable project, costing 44 million dollars will be completed in two years.

Special Communication Organization will lay 820 kilometre long cable from Rawalpindi to Khunjerab. On completion the project will provide an alternative telecommunication route between Pakistan and China.
