KARACHI: President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif kicked off his party’s election campaign in Karachi on Monday with promises to develop the metropolis.

Shehbaz was speaking at an event of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. “We will bring Karachi’s lost stature back with the help of the provincial government and solve four mega problems of the city, if voted in elections” he said while urging federal government to grant a special budget for Karachi.

PML-N leader claimed that other than CPEC projects, PML-N’s government also initiated other monumental projects in Karachi.

“Within three years, every household of Karachi will have water and we will clean all the garbage from the city in six months,” he promised.

Pointing out the issues of public transport and lack of infrastructure in port city, Shehbaz Sharif stated that his party would specifically focus on these basic problems.

Former chief minister of Punjab was talking boastfully about his party’s development projects and how effectively the former government dealt with energy crisis and terrorism.

Surprisingly, PML-N president acknowledged the fact that the country has not gotten rid of power outage yet in a complete manner.

In a customary criticism of opponent parties, Shehbaz held 2014 sit-ins responsible for damaging the economic growth of the country.

“It is due to our tireless struggle that our factories are operational again because we have 90% resolved the issue of power shortage,” PML-N’s government has brought Pakistan back on the track, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif asserted that there is not a single penny’s corruption in all of our development projects.

On the issue of water scarcity, he said that everyone needs to work together.

Later in the day, Shehbaz will visit NA-249 constituency from where he is contesting the July 25 polls to woo constituents to vote for him.

He will also visit NA-244 constituency where the PML-N has fielded former finance minister Miftah Ismail, to address the party workers.
