LAHORE: Reiterating that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will never boycott elections, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal predicted the party will emerge victorious in the July 25 polls.

In a tweet, he said: “PMLN will never boycott elections. The sentiment and support of people of Pakistan is behind PMLN.”

He added: “On 25 July PMLN shall emerge victorious IA [Inshallah] as people acknowledge PMLN govt successfully tackled Loadshedding and terrorism menaces, two biggest challenges in 2013.”

A day earlier, PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb, speaking to media, replied in negative when asked about PML-N’s alleged plan to quit the electoral battle. “We will participate in the polls with full force,” she said.

She said that only those political parties boycotted elections which did not have any performance to their credit.

Ms Aurangzeb said that they were launching the election campaign of Maryam Nawaz in the constituency (NA-127), who was in London and whose return depended on the improvement of the health of her mother.

She informed that the party manifesto would be unveiled on July 5 and the PML-N would expound its plan of action for development of the country.

She said that on July 25 people by putting stamp on the ‘lion’, the election symbol of the PML-N, would declare that they could not hand over reins of the developed and nuclear Pakistan to a person who was a threat to the integrity of the country.

The PML-N spokesperson said people were well aware and would refrain from voting for political forces involved in mud-slinging. The ex-minister said the party was confident of getting sizable voters support on the election day.
