GUJRANWALA: Police in Gujranwala arrested a 55-year-old man for one-wheeling on his motorbike, after several of his videos went viral on the social media.

Anti-one wheeling squad incharge Zaheer said a operation was conducted last Sunday night to arrest the man named Chan Elahi. He has been locked up at the Kotwali police station.

He said that police had attempted to take him into custody fifteen days ago but he fled after leaving his motorbike behind. The elderly and bearded man has been spotted one-wheeling across Gujranwala.

He was also arrested in Ramazan but was released after promising not to indulge in such activities. He was also released after a warning a couple of days ago. Elahi also participated in an illegal street race last Thursday.

The suspect was one-wheeling and speeding on his motorbike at the Gondlanwala roundabout on GT Road after which he was arrested. The video of him performing the precarious stunts went viral on social media.

Last month, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar had directed the police to take practical steps to stop the scourge of one wheeling. He said that full support will be provided to improve the police system and mere lip service will not help anymore.

Earlier, the Gujranwala city traffic police launched a crackdown against one-wheeling motorcyclists and arrested fifteen youths violating traffic rules with one-wheeling stunts.
