Police constable loses life in accident involving former PM’s car

ISLAMABAD: A police constable lost his life after a speeding car hit his motorcycle on Islamabad’s Zero Point area, ARY News reported.

According to ARY News correspondent, a Rawalpindi police constable Zeeshan Abbasi was killed after a speeding car belonging to former premier Raja Pervaiz Ashraf hit his motorcycle in Zero Point area within the precincts of Aabpara police station.

The former PM was not in the car and the car was being driven by his driver.

Police have arrested the driver named Abid and the vehicle has been moved to Aabpara police station. The law enforcement agency says that the vehicle bears a government number plate.

Police say they are waiting for the deceased’s family to reach Islamabad to register a First Information Report (FIR).

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf formerly served as the federal minister for water and power and information and technology in the coalition government led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP).

Ashraf served as 19th Prime Minister of Pakistan from June 2012 to March 2013.
