Suspected robber shot dead in Karachi shootout

KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed a suspected robber in a shootout in the city’s Lines Area on Sunday night.

According to SSP Dr Irfan Baloch, the police received a call that three robbers were busy looting citizens within the limits of Brigade police station. Acting swiftly, when the police reached there, the robbers tried to escape, defying the orders to surrender.  They opened fire on the police party and when the police returned fire, one was killed while two others managed to escape from the spot, he added.

A day before, two alleged robbers were killed in two separate ‘shoot-outs’ in different parts of the metropolis, according to police.

The police said they raided a house in Shah Latif Town’s Lashari neighborhood to arrest a suspect who was involved in robberies. The law enforcement personnel asked him to surrender but he defied the orders and fired multiple shots at them and in the retaliatory fire he was killed, they added.

They said the suspect had carried out robbery with his accomplices at a restaurant in Gulshan-e-Maymar and was identified with the help of close circuit TV cameras.

In another encounter, an alleged robber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape in Korangi area, police said.
